Tarmac has acquired two new readymix (RMX) plants in Moray and the Highlands.
The building materials company obtained the facilities in Cloddach and Inverness as part of Breedon Aggregates' £336 million acquisition of Hope Construction Materials.
Breedon had proposed to offload 14 RMX sites after competition concerns over the merger were raised by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The solution was accepted by the CMA last week.
Overall Tarmac has bought 11 sites in total and the other nine are located in England:
• Lincoln, Lincolnshire
• Boston, Lincolnshire
• Spalding, Lincolnshire
• Wisbech, Cambridgeshire
• Telford, Halesfield, Shropshire
• Telford, Trenchlock, Shropshire
• Shrewsbury, Bayston, Shropshire
• Coleford, Stowfield, Gloucestershire
• Leinthall, Herefordshire
Mark Joel, Tarmac managing director for RMX Concrete and Building Products, said: "The acquisition of these sites broadens our nationwide customer offer ensuring that we have ability to serve all major urban conurbations, as well as supplying bespoke projects from a fleet of mobile units. Importantly, we have the flexibility and capacity to meet the supply requirements of any type or size of project – from small schemes through to major housing, commercial, or infrastructure projects."
