The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has pledged over £90,000 towards a museum redevelopment project in the Outer Hebrides.
The £800,000 Eachdraidh Easgaidh project at Kildonan Museum will redevelop Taigh-Tasgaidh Chill Donnain to include an extension to the Museum and internal and external improvements to the site.
Partnership funding for the project has been secured from the joint Scottish Government and Local Authorities Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Community Capital Grant Fund, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Storas Uibhist and the Foyle Foundation.
Work is due to start in March with a phased development to enable the building to remain open during the works.
William Doherty, Treasurer of Urras Eachdraidh Uibhist a Deas, said: "We are delighted to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and are looking forward to developing Taigh-Tasgaidh Chill Donnain into a venue where both the local community and our visitors can enjoy a memorable experience, learning about our heritage and ensuring that our collections are secured for the enjoyment of future generations."
