A £500,000 grant has been secured by West Dunbartonshire Council to help restore a historic building the region.
Funding from Historic Environment Scotland will restore the former Dumbarton Academy building.
The A-listed façade of the building will be repaired as part of the council's plans to relocate 500 staff to new offices.
Renovation works by specialist contractors include rebuilding the roof, conservation and repair of the original stonework, along with refurbishing the existing timber doors at the main entrance.
Once the project is completed, the building will include a public area with multi-use civic space, training/meeting rooms and an office extension to the rear of the building.
The new office is to cost around £15.7m.
Council Leader Martin Rooney said: "This is an iconic building at the heart of Dumbarton town centre and I'm delighted that Historic Environment Scotland has recognised the importance of the work we're carrying out. In restoring the old Academy Building to its former glory, not only will the Council bring this building back into use but it will also help provide a catalyst for further regeneration activities in the town centre."
