News that Argyll and Bute is to be included in a £21m funding boost for schools has been welcomed by the Council's Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, Councillor Aileen Morton.
Councillor Constance confirmed yesterday that Argyll and Bute Council is one of three Scottish local authorities to benefit from the funding.
Dunoon Primary School will be refurbished following the news, announced by the Scottish government yesterday. The school will be upgraded with space for up to 300 pupils and 30 nursery places, while retaining its listed building status.
Councillor Constance said: "Our education service is totally focused on delivering the best it can for the wellbeing of all our young people. We want to make sure that every child in Argyll and Bute gets the best possible start and this drives everything that we do in our schools.
"Today's announcement means that, working in partnership with the Scottish Government, we are able to deliver the best possible solution for the pupils at Dunoon Primary School – now and in the future.
"Both Argyll and Bute Council and the local community share the ambition to see children educated in good quality schools. The funding award means that we can achieve a full refurbishment of Dunoon Primary School while keeping the school in its original location – something that I know is important to many people in the community."
