A total of £754,430 has been set aside in funding for North Queensferry, it has been announced.
The funding boost has been made possible through the Coastal Communities Fund and will allow Fife Council to install a floating pontoon landing berth at North Queensferry harbour to create a sustainable transport option for visitors and boost tourism in the area. It will also support a number of other environmental improvements, such as the installation of a new digital visitor information kiosk.
Commenting on the funding, Councillor Lesley Laird, Fife Council Depute Leader, said: "This is just fantastic news and we are delighted that all the hard work that went into the application has been rewarded.
"This award opens up huge potential for North Queensferry to expand its water access as well as its wider tourism options, and with the decision later this year for UNESCO World Heritage status for the Forth Bridge, this investment could not have come at a better time.
"With the increased visitor numbers expected, boat operators and cruise ships will also be able to offer North Queensferry as a potential visitor landing destination."
