A consultation event is to be held later this week in relation to a proposed community hub for East Dunbartonshire.
The creation of a hub has been approved by the Council following a reconfiguration of the Bearsden Burgh Hall site on Drymen Road, and the plans are now being developed.
The £3m facility will include the re-provisioning of the library from Brookwood, while current accommodation and retaining the facilities of the hall will be included. Elsewhere, a customer services area will deliver a 'one stop shop' approach to help residents access information about a variety of different services.
The consultation will be held tomorrow (Thursday 11 December) at Bearsden Burgh Hall, where Council officials will be in attendance.
The information session will be from 6.30pm to 8pm.
The local community is being encouraged to attend and they will be able to view the plans as well as hear more about the facility and provide feedback as to how it should be designed.
Ashay Ghai, Depute Council Leader, said: "There has been much misinformation circulating on this new facility. The development of the Community Hub is exciting news for Bearsden and will see major investment in the town centre.
"The budget for the project has already been boosted by £800,000 after we listened to feedback from stakeholders, hall users and community representatives who all wanted to see full hall facilities retained as part of the proposal.
"The network of community hubs continues to be a key aspect of the Council's transformation programme to continue to deliver customer services locally throughout East Dunbartonshire. They are at the heart of supporting town centre regeneration as well as delivering efficiencies and savings in our wider operating model.
"The implication of the increased investment means it is proposed that the Council disposes of Brookwood Villa and Library but we are not cutting library provision in Bearsden or the services it provides to the local community. The new Community Hub will provide everyone in Bearsden with a state-of-the-art library they will be proud of."
