A new European Marine Science Park (EMSP) has been officially opened in Argyll.
The park, which has been developed by the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), is located at Dunstaffnage, near Oban.
Known as Malin House, the centre for marine science business and enterprise is the first unit to be completed on the site. When complete, the site will consist of 20,000 sq ft of office and lab space.
Alex Paterson, Chief Executive of HIE, said: "The European Marine Science Park at Dunstaffnage brings together a number of businesses in Argyll and the wider Highlands and Islands which are at the forefront of developments in marine science, marine technology and aquaculture.
"EMSP is designed to enable new and expanding companies, as well as inward investors, the opportunity to locate to the region and further develop what is already a world-class centre of excellence in marine science."
Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing, officially opened the centre and added: "The European Marine Science Park represents a significant investment by Highlands and Islands Enterprise to develop a world class facility that will allow businesses to grow in Scotland.
"The Park reflects the increasing importance of life sciences to the Scottish economy to help further inspire, enhance involvement and innovation within our communities."
