Unite has purchased new sites in Aberdeen and Liverpool, which will see accommodation for more than 1,000 students delivered for the 2017/18 academic year.
According to reports, the student accommodation specialist is expanding its business to a number of key cities throughout the UK, including Aberdeen.
In a statement, it said that an increase in land and construction costs in London had forced it to look at other cities to develop its student hall accommodations.
It is understood the two projects will cost around £80m to develop and will account for around 60% of the firm's planned development activity for 2017.
Richard Simpson, managing director of property for Unite Students, is quoted as saying: "We are delighted to have secured two more excellent sites in strong regional locations in line with our development strategy.
"The new schemes will enhance our presence in two of our best performing markets and provide much needed accommodation capacity for the growing student populations."
