Improvement works to transform homes in Burns Court, Kirkintilloch, are continuing.
The £1.25m scheme is the second phase of a wider £3m transformation project.
East Dunbartonshire Council has said the works will bring 52 properties up to the Scottish Housing Quality Standards (SHQS), as well as meet new energy efficiency standards.
The first phase of the initiative included installing new double-glazed windows, kitchens and bathrooms, energy-efficient boilers, solar panels, front doors and roofs to the houses. This phase will now concentrate on improving door entry systems, balconies and closes. Each close will be re-painted, while new flooring, lighting, stair handrails and entry call systems will be installed. In addition, a new state-of-the-art CCTV system will also be put in place and linked to a new concierge station.
The project is expected to take around eight months to complete.
Stewart and Shields, a Helensburgh-based contractor, will carry out the work.
Welcoming the commencement of works, Councillor Ashay Ghai, depute leader of East Dunbartonshire Council and convenor of Neighbourhood Services, said: "I am delighted that this extensive programme of works has started. With the contract being so large, we as a Council had to follow quite a strict procurement process, but now that's complete we can forge ahead with the work.
"It's hoped the work will be completed within the 32 week programme, but this will obviously depend on the winter weather. We hope once the works are all complete the residents will have homes they can truly be proud of."
