West Dunbartonshire Council has launched a consultation regarding proposed improvements to a number of primary schools in the Bonhill area.
The recommendations involve Highdykes Primary School, Ladyton Primary School and St Ronan's Primary School, as well as the Ladyton Early Education and Childcare (EECC) Centre . The proposals would see St Ronan's moving to a refurbished Ladyton building in August 2015; while Highdykes and Ladyton Primary Schools would move into a refurbished St Ronan's building, which will also accommodate Ladyton EECC Centre.
Around £1m would be spent to upgrade St Ronan's to upgrade the building, while £300,000 would be spent – over a period of two years – on improvements to Ladyton Primary School.
The new EECC Centre would provide nursery placements for 40 full-time places for three and four-year-olds, and the current Ladyton EECC Centre would remain and provide education for up to 24 children under the age of three, following a £50,000 upgrade.
Terry Lanagan, Executive Director of Educational Services, said: "I believe these proposals will be a great step forward in providing first-class facilities for both our children and our staff in Bonhill.
"When the consultation opens, I would ask parents and carers to take the time and read the consultation document and complete the online form. These proposals would provide state-of-the-art educational establishments which we could be proud of for years to come."
The closing date for responses is Friday 31 October 2014.
