Argyll and Bute Council has confirmed a project to improve the U59 Machrihanish Road is to commence this month.
The scheme will last for approximately 12 weeks.
McFadyens Contractors (Campbeltown) Ltd. will undertake the work on behalf of the local authority, and will involve improvements to drainage, re-profiling the road where necessary, and the installation of ditches, filter drains, soak-aways and verge off-lets.
Work on the road itself will include edge strengthening where essential, the laying of a combination of geogrid and geotextile membrane for additional strength, reshaping, overlaying with a new surface and new road markings.
In addition, the bridge over Backs Water will also be improved with waterproofing work and minor repairs being carried out.
Throughout the project, the road will remain open, with single-lane traffic light control.
The project will cost £650,000 and is being part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
