A new link path in Benderloch has been completed by Argyll and Bute Council.
The path connects a sheltered housing complex at Ford Spence Court in the area to the newly-constructed Sustrans National Cycle Network (NCN) route 78.
Despite being part of the cycle network, the routes are also popular with walkers. The local authority has said this new link path will allow elderly residents easy, safe access to the network, rather than having to access it via the A828, which is a busy trunk road.
The path was constructed following a request from the residents of Ford Spence Court, and the Council used monies from its Cycling Walking Safer Streets (CWSS) grant to carry out the work.
Councillor Elaine Robertson, Argyll and Bute Council's Depute Policy Lead for Adult Care, said: "I was delighted to attend the opening ceremony last week. I have been involved in the development of NCN78 for a number of years and am very pleased that the residents of Ford Spence Court will now be able to safely access it.
"I would like to thank the council's strategic transportation team who made this possible and our roads team who done the marvellous job of construction, much to the delight of the residents. I wish all the residents well and hope they all enjoy their safe new access path."
