Councillors in Moray have rejected plans to construct nine new homes in the coastal village of Portgordon.
Three separate applications, each for three houses, on the seaward side of existing homes in the area were refused permission. One of the applications was rejected unanimously, while the others were rejected on a 7-6 vote, the Council has said.
It is understood planning officers refused the applications on the grounds that the builds would result in an "overdeveloped and cramped appearance" on the seaward side of the village, while the applicant had also failed to demonstrate that the proposed homes would not be at risk from coastal flooding.
