The Highland Council is to seek the views of the local community regarding plans to construct a new school campus in Tain.
The facility would be a replacement for the existing Tain Royal Academy, Craighill and Knockbreck Primary Schools, as well as St Duthus Special School.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that members of the council's Education, Children and Adult Services (ECAS) Committee agreed sites at Craighill Primary School, the existing Tain Royal Academy campus and Kirksheaf Road, also in Tain, would be considered for a proposed new three- to 18-year-old campus.
It was also agreed that the local community will be kept informed and be able to engage with the selection process.
As a result, the Highland Council will being seeking the community's views over a four-week period, which will commence in late June 2014. The process will include drop-in sessions.
The dates of the events will be confirmed nearer the time.
Councillor Alasdair Christie, Chair of the Council's ECAS Committee explained: "Although the capital programme is fully committed until Autumn 2016, it is important that we consult in the meantime to ensure that we have all the information available to members in 2016 so that they can decide which of the schools projects will be next under the Council's Sustainable Schools Estate Review."
