Aberdeenshire Council are encouraging the local community to attend its series of public meetings being held in relation to a regeneration project of Peterhead.
The events will allow residents and businesses to view and comment on the findings of a study recently carried out in the town centre. It forms part of a wider initiative which aims to transform the towns of Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Banff and Macduff.
In May 2013, a team of consultants – led by architects HRI – was commissioned to undertake strategic reviews of the towns, and the results of the review of Peterhead, as well as a draft Action Plan for the town centre will be on show to allow the community to provide feedback.
The public viewings will take place at Peterhead Projects, Marischal Street, on:
• Wednesday 23 April 23 from 12pm to 7pm
• Thursday 24 April from 12pm to 7pm
• Friday 25 April from 12pm to 7pm
• Saturday 26 April from 10am to 4pm.
Aberdeenshire Council's Town Centres and Regeneration Manager, Christine Webster, said: "We want to take on board as much community opinion as possible as we move forward with plans to help revitalise the town centre.
"The council alone cannot make all the changes which may be required so everyone with an interest has to work together for the benefit of Peterhead town centre."
The local authority's Head of Economic Development, Belinda Miller, added: "Regeneration of any sort is rarely achieved by local authorities on their own.
"It will be hard to mitigate the very strong market forces acting against our town centres, but we know the desire to achieve this is there and we want to help the community in reshaping the offer. Working together we can make some inroads to change."
