A joint operation to crack down on rogue home maintenance traders has been launched by Trading Standards, Police Scotland and counter fraud officers.
They will work together with East Renfrewshire Council to provide advice, check for fraud trading practices and identify benefits fraudsters, it is understood.
Alan Dickson, the area's community police inspector for Police Scotland, said: "This joint initiative is focused on the itinerant rogue traders who target the residents of East Renfrewshire.
"My officers working alongside our colleagues in trading standards and the counter fraud team will do whatever we can to prosecute and ultimately prevent these people plying their trade in this area.
"I would encourage all residents to display their 'No Cold Calling' stickers. It's important for people to remember that it is their doorstep and they have the right to say no to any goods or services being offered."
East Renfrewshire Council principal trading standards officer Steve Fox said: "We regularly deal with complaints from residents, particularly the elderly who have fallen victim to 'here today gone tomorrow' rogue workmen who have carried out shoddy and over priced work. We are delighted to assist with this operation."
