Scottish Water is to hold a public event next week to inform customers about plans to upgrade the local waster water infrastructure in Canonbie.
Currently, waste water from the village is processed by an old septic tank close to the River Esk, but in order to ensure the needs of the community can continue to be met in the future, Scottish Water aims to replace the septic tank with a small waste water works and umping station.
Bill Elliot, Scottish Water's Community Team Manager for Dumfries and Galloway, said: "One of our priorities is to ensure we put in place water and waste water infrastructure which meets the needs and demands of communities while protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
"The old septic tank has served Canonbie well but it is important that we ensure we have the best system in place to ensure we can process waste water from the village to the highest standard with increased capacity well into the future.
"This information event is an opportunity for customers to meet the project team and to ask questions.
The event will be held at Canonbie Village Hall on Tuesday 11 February, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
