Clackmannanshire residents could receive help to ensure their home is more energy efficient thanks to a further successful funding bid by the local authority's home energy strategy team.
The project, which has been funded by the Scottish Government under its Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland (HEEPS) and Scottish Hydro, through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), aims to cut household energy use and reduce energy costs.
The Council has said homeowners or tenants living in privately rented accommodation and who are in receipt of certain benefits may be eligible for free energy efficiency measures which include new boilers and loft and cavity wall insulation. It is thought the new funding could help up to 300 homes in Clackmannanshire which are in need of insulation or new heating systems.
Housing Convener Les Sharp said: "I am delighted that we are able to offer this help with our partners for residents of Clackmannanshire to help make their homes more energy efficient.
"Improving the insulation in your house and having more energy efficient heating could help you to feel warmer this winter whilst also reducing your energy bills, so I would urge residents to telephone in or check the web site and find out if they are eligible for these free measures."
Housing and Welfare Minister Margaret Burgess added: "Rising energy bills remain a huge concern for this government. The funding for Clackmannanshire will see hundreds of homes in the area receive measures like new boilers and loft and cavity wall insulation.
"The Scottish Government is determined to help householders stay warm and reduce their energy bills. Basic energy efficiency measures can make a huge difference to Scottish families who are struggling to make ends meet, allowing them to heat their homes more cost effectively.
"To help tackle fuel poverty we are actively working with councils and energy companies to ensure that Scotland continues to get its fair share of funding for efficiency programmes like these."
