Work has now officially commenced on the highly anticipated £6.7 million community facility in Milton, Glasgow, which will become the new, modern home for Scaraway Nursery and the vital local charity, North United Communities (NUC).

This state-of-the-art development is slated for completion by summer 2026.

Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren recently visited the site, joining children, local councillors, NUC representatives, council officers, and construction workers to inspect the initial progress. The land itself holds a rich educational history, having previously housed the Glasgow School for the Deaf before gaining the green light for this new multi-purpose centre.

Lord Provost McLaren conveyed her enthusiasm for the project: "It's fantastic to have been given the go-ahead for this vital resource. It's something that's badly needed and I'm so proud and excited that work is finally starting. It's going to make a huge difference to the people living here." She further highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the hub, noting it as a "flagship resource bringing together partners from the council's education service, the Third Sector and Glasgow Caledonian University for the very first time." The Lord Provost expressed confidence that the building would become a template for similar future community assets, envisioning it as "the beating heart of our community" upon its opening.
