Inverclyde's urban regeneration company is to receive funds to help boost business in the area.
The money is part of a Scottish Government £25m cash boost for the country.
With regards to the Inverclyde investment, the money will be used as part of a £1.1m small business centre in Port Glasgow.
Earlier this month, urban regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde announced the purchase of vacant property on Scarlow Street in the town. The refurbished premises at Scarlow Street would provide similar facilities in Port Glasgow to that in Riverside Inverclyde's successful office units in Greenock's Victoria House.
Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council's Environment and Regeneration Convener said: "This is a welcome boost from the Scottish Government. The regeneration work already carried out in Port Glasgow is helping to drive more confidence in the town.
"Thanks to close partnership working by the council and Riverside Inverclyde we have already delivered a range of projects. This cash boost will help to take a currently empty property and create a new home for existing business to grow and new business to start up."
Councillor David Wilson, Riverside Inverclyde's Interim Chairman added: "Small businesses are crucial to the our economy and to local communities. The new business centre will help encourage more people to start up businesses and support existing businesses to grow."
