A new joint campus, which has benefited from the Scottish Government's £1.25bn Scotland's Schools for the Future programme, has officially opened.
Education Secretary Michael Russell visited the campus for Haddington Infants and St Mary's RC Primary School in East Lothian, which was built with £4.9m funding from the Scottish Government.
The new school is a two-storey building on the site of the former St Mary's RC School. Both of the schools operate as individual schools within this building, with their own headteacher, staff, policies and programmes.
The schools share some facilities in the new campus, including the playground, dining room, PE hall, movement and dance room, a medical room and a hygiene room.
Mr Russell said: "The Schools for the Future Programme is delivering bright, modern schools in communities across Scotland. The joint campus for Haddington Infants and St Mary's RC Primary School is the latest example of this and benefitted from £4.9 million funding from the Scottish Government.
"East Lothian can be rightly proud of this state-of-the-art campus, and I am confident the schools and the community they serve will, like the tree generously donated by the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, flourish in years to come."
East Lothian Council Education and Children's Wellbeing spokesman, Councillor Shamin Akhtar added: "The new campus is really wonderful and offers first-class facilities for children, their families and the community.
"I know from talking to parents and children how very much they are enjoying their new surroundings. I think that the new campus is an active demonstration of our commitment to getting it right for every child in Haddington."
