A new initiative planned for Dundee could see more than £2m spent on improving energy efficiency in the city's homes.
This year, the local authority has been awarded £1.9m for the delivery of area-based schemes by the Scottish Government, and if the scheme is approved by Councillors next week, almost 1,500 homes will benefit.
A total of 1,468 properties in Arklay Street, Lawton, Graham Street, West Kirkton and Dryburgh would be included in the project. Properties chosen for the energy efficiency scheme include former council properties sold under the 'Right to Buy' scheme as well as blocks with a mix of private/council tenants and owner occupiers.
Priority was given to properties with lower thermal insulation standards.
John Alexander, Convener of Dundee City Council's Housing Committee, said: "We have already helped hundreds of people across the city to make their homes warmer while at the same time saving them money on their energy bills.
"Schemes at the four Dalfield multis and in Lochee have proved popular and successful and this money from the Scottish Government will help us to create even more energy efficient homes in five more parts of the city."
