A £5,000 grant from Inverclyde Council has allowed a Port Glasgow Boxing Club to carry out some much-needed renovations.
Port Glasgow Victoria Boxing Club is just one of the successful applicants to receive £5,000 from the Council's Grant to Voluntary Organisations fund.
The club, which moved into a new premises in June, has since been working hard to restore the building and club back to its former glory.
Club owner Kenny Crighton and Coach Billy Clark both attended the boxing club when it was primarily known as the Glen Rangers Social Club.
Mr Clark said: "This has and always will be a boxing club. The next stage for us is to develop the four main areas of the club; the boxing area, the weights room, changing rooms (male and female), and showers and toilets. This grant will help us go forward with the club's refurbishment and for that reason we're thankful for Inverclyde Council's contribution."
Inverclyde's Young Person's Champion and Communities Vice-Convenor, James McColgan added: "The Port Glasgow Victoria Boxing Club is a great example of a voluntary organisation that is both led and used by the community. It exists to serve young people in the local community."
