A significant architecturally-important parking garage in Glasgow's West End is to be transformed, according to Urban Realm.
The site, known as The Botanic Gardens Garage, is to be restored into a shop and gym, as well as creating a small space for community use.
The plans, which replaced an earlier residential-led scheme, have been designed by Keppie and will involve minimal alterations to the exterior of the A-listed building.
The designs come after Scottish Ministers refused permission for the structure to be demolished and a new build erected in its place.
Submitted on behalf of the building's owners – Arnold Clark – the proposals aim to continue using the basement area for private parking, while it transforms the ground floor area into a new retail unit. The first floor would be developed into a gym.
This would involve the construction of new stair and lift cores, as well as the creation of a new doorway inside one of the existing windows.
Work to repair and refurbish the stonework frontage would also take place in tandem with the development, with existing window frames replaced with double glazed units.
