Highland officials are reported to have advised the local authority to approve a wind farm off northern Scotland.
According to Renewable Energy News, the wind farm in question involves SSE and Repsol's plans for a 1000MW Beatrice wind farm in the Moray Firth.
Planning papers are now being sent to members of the North Planning Applications Committee today, with a recommendation that no objection be made to the project.
Beatrice is closer to shore than EDP and Repsol’s neighbouring 1500MW Moray Firth projects, which won the support of Highland Council in March. It is a 75:25 joint venture between SSE and Repsol and is thought to feature up to 277 turbines around 13.5km off the coast of Caithness.
Scottish ministers will have the final decision on the future of the wind farm, which is expected later this year. If the plans are approved, construction would begin some time after 2015.
