A health facility which has won awards for its design, has had to carry out almost £100k of repairs.
According to the BBC, the Dumfries Dental Centre, which opened five years ago, suffered water damage due to problems with its flat roof and guttering.
Sitting adjacent to the town's infirmary, the centre's underground drainage system also failed causing leaks throughout the building.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway said the cost of repairing the roof and guttering was just under £97k.
In a report submitted to the health authority, it is also revealed that the architects who designed the building are no longer in business, meaning pursuing any means of compensation would be expensive and difficult. It is understood that discussions are ongoing to explore every avenue available.
As a result of the design flaw which caused the problems, no future NHS buildings are to include flat roofs.
