Budget hotel chain Premier Inn is reported to have secured four new hotel sites, according to Business Traveller.
The latest acquisition will add almost 400 bedrooms to its expanding portfolio in Scotland.
The four new sites will be located at Glasgow, Perth, St Andrews and Stirling and are part of the group's ongoing expansion to reach its target of 65,000 bedrooms by 2016.
In Glasgow, a six-floor, 180-bedroom hotel and restaurant will be built on the banks of the River Clyde, opposite the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. Construction work is due to begin shortly, with the hotel opening in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
In Perth, the old Pullar's Building on Mill Street will be converted into an 83-bedroom Premier Inn hotel and restaurant; while in St Andrews, a 65-bedroom hotel and restaurant will open at Largo Road. Lastly, a 60-bedroom hotel and Beefeater Frill restaurant will be built at Forthside.
John Bates, Head of Acquisitions UK and Ireland for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: "We’re investing in projects right across Scotland and these latest deals add to the hotels we have recently opened in Glasgow and Ayr. The proposed hotels at Perth, St Andrews, Stirling and Glasgow Pacific Quay highlight the flexibility and security we bring to projects, giving residents and local authorities the confidence they need that we are the right partner for them."
Since March 2012, Whitbread has created more than 3,000 new jobs across the country and plans to create 10,000 new jobs over the next three years as it expands its Premier Inn and Costa brands.
