A proposed new community centre in Inverkip has been described by Inverclyde Council as a "gateway to the village and a focal point for local people."
Designs for the new £1.5m facility have been revealed and show a modern, contemporary community centre designed to feature combined multiple functions.
The new centre will house a multi-purpose community hall with changing rooms, a library, training centre and meeting room, children’s play area and a café with outside seating.
An internal 'street' will provide access to all areas but also act as a meeting space.
Environment & Regeneration Convener Councillor Michael McCormick said: "There has been a great deal of community involvement coming up with the design and layout of the new building. This is after all a community centre and as such it is vital we listen to local people and take on board what they want. This is an exciting project and one that will provide a real focal point for everyone in the village.
"The new centre will be at the heart of activities in Inverkip such as gala days and other outdoor events. The new all-weather 5-a-side playing field will also be a popular attraction. I am delighted that the project has reached the stage where a planning application has been submitted."
