An Aberdeen-based mechanical engineering firm is to expand its business in Scandanavia with the opening of a second base in Norway.
EnerMech is investing £3m in its new workshop and offices in Bergen, located close to major shipyards.
The company hopes to focus on the process, pipeline and umbilicals offshore sectors with its mechanical handling equipment, including cranes, hydraulics and rental machines.
The company's Norway staff will now be increased to a total of 50 personnel.
"After four years of steady growth in Stavanger, opening in Bergen is a natural fit as the city is an important centre for Norway’s oil, gas and subsea industries," said Trond Møller, EnerMech's general manager for Norway.
"We are confident there will be a strong demand for our cranes, rental equipment, hydraulics and PPU services," he said.
"Bergen has always been important to our long-term objectives and this expansion shows we are committed to Norway for the long term."
EnerMech broke through the Norwegian market with the acquisition of Bjørge ASA’s crane division in October 2008.
Mr Møller says the company will continue to invest in infrastructure in the country.
