Planning has been granted for a new 180 bed hotel at Pacific Quay in Glasgow.
The new Premier Inn and Thyme Restaurant has been designed by Lawrence McPherson Associates for Whitbread PLC at Pacific Quay in Glasgow.
The 6-storey hotel will be located next to the BBC Scotland building and directly opposite the SECC and the 'Armadillo'.
Planning was submitted following public consultation, during which comments were sought from the public, local interest groups and the users of the neighbouring buildings.
The building has been designed to "maintain the strong building edge to the river and to provide a transition between the two very different heights of the neighbouring buildings," according to Lawrence McPherson Associates.
The Thyme restaurant faces the Clyde and will include an external dining area adjacent to the river, to create "a range of dining experiences for guests and to reinforce the active frontage of the building."
The design will also incorporate a new public space which links Bells Bridge to Pacific Quay and will create a pedestrian link from the SECC to the site and beyond.
The hotel has been designed to meet carbon emissions targets of 26% by 2020.
It will encompass low carbon design and specification and incorporate many energy saving features.
