The former Odeon cinema in Glasgow’s West Regent Street will be demolished next week as part of plans to build a new £60m office block.
The old theatre lies between Queen Street and Central Station and will be demolished before the end of the year.
It is thought the new 10-storey office building will be built by December 2014.
Mountgrange Real Estate Opportunity Fund and PRUPIM from Duddingstone House Properties have appointed Sir Robert McAlpine to design and build the 143,000sqft of office and retail space.
Gasgow City Council has confirmed the art deco facade of the building on Renfield Street and foyer area will be retained.
Glasgow City Council leader, Councillor Gordon Matheson, said: "It is vital for Glasgow to have access to top class office space if we are to continue to attract new businesses and jobs to our city.
"I am delighted that this site is now to be regenerated and I am sure it will be a wonderful addition to our city centre business offering."
Nick Berry, partner at Mountgrange Investment Management, added: "We have identified Glasgow as a prime target for commercial investment and believe this provides an excellent opportunity to respond to the shortage of Grade A space in the heart of the city.
"We are delighted to invest alongside PRUPIM, one of the UK’s premier real estate institutions, who share our vision."
