New school projects for Aberdeenshire are to be put before the council’s Policy & Resources Committee this week.
Projects being considered include plans for the new Alford Community Campus, major alterations to Kemnay Academy and plans for a new build primary school in Drumoak.
The three projects make up over £60m in capital investment for Aberdeenshire Council over the next few years.
The £40m Alford Community Campus will include a 640-pupil academy, 355-pupil primary, sports facilities, a 25 metre swimming pool, arts facilities, integrated community library and community centre.
The cost of the development also includes a relief road, which would link Greystone Road through to a re-aligned A944 north of the town.
Planning will be lodged early next year and work will begin in 2014, provided the plans get the go-ahead.
Kemnay Academy is also to be given a major redevelopment, to be considered by councillors.
This will take the form of improvements to general teaching, music, sports, Support for Learners, administration, offices and social accommodation provision.
The improvements are being implemented to accommodate the projected increase in the school roll to 1,000 by 2018.
Five phases of work are being considered, to be carried out during school holidays between June 2013 and March 2015.
Councillors are expected to hear that the cost of the works has increased, due to extra developments, including the refurbishment of the science block and modifications to the kitchen.
A new build primary school at Drumoak is also being considered, at an estimated cost of around £7.4m.
The committee will be given the opportunity to approve plans for extra accommodation for a two-court hall and community facility within the plans.
The Policy & Resources Committee will consider the new plans on Thursday, 15 November 2012.
