It has pledged to create 200 construction jobs and plough £20m into redevelopment of a former health centre.
Now Asda has invited members of the public in Barrhead to view proposals for its new 40,000 square foot store in the town.
The supermarket chain has won the council's tender for redeveloping the site between Church Street, Main Street and the River Levern.
Ahead of applying for planning permission, it will hold two community engagement events, which it said would "allow the public to play a part in shaping the future development".
Proposals will be on show on July 28 and August 25 between 11am and 4pm at Barrhead Sports Centre on Main Street.
A supermarket spokesman said: "If approved the supermarket will bring hundreds of new employment opportunities to the town and provide more choice for consumers."
The company plans to invest £800,000 in integrating the supermarket with the town centre, using public realm, access and green space areas.
The store will have a petrol filling station, two electronic car charge points, car and bicycle parking spaces and recycling facilities.
Lisa Rooke, Asda's Property Communications Manager for Scotland, said: "If our planning application is successful this will enable us to make a significant investment in the town, regenerating a currently redundant site. We hope that as many local people as possible are able to join us at these events and we look forward to seeing them there."
