A demolition company boss has moved into recycling, creating at least 30 jobs in the process.
George Beattie, who runs Hunter Demolition in Kilsyth, has set up a recycling firm called Hunter Environmental, which has secured a 27-acre site at Bishopbriggs, Dunbartonshire, at a cost of £1.1m.
Mr Beattie, who employs 90 workers at the demolition company, has employed six people for the recyling arm of his growing business portfolio, and hopes to employ 20 people by the end of its first year and 30 thereafter.
The new company will provide recycling services on all his demolition projects, while also accepting suitable materials from other organisations.
Mr Beattie told the Glasgow Evening Times: "This is an incredibly exciting time for us and we feel the time is right to develop the business. We have not set any great targets revenue-wise in the first year, but expect it to be about £1m and increasing to £5m-£6m a few years from now."
High Street bank NatWest gave a loan of £735,000 towards buying the yard.
Gina Cleife of the bank said: "George approached us with a well-thought out, professional and ambitious plan."
