Clyde Windows And Construction Launch New Roof System

Clyde Windows and Construction has recently launched a brand new conservatory roof system to their product range targeting existing conservatory owners who cant use their conservatory in the summer as its too hot and then in the winter their conservatory is too cold.

This roof system has a U-Value of only 0.53Wm2k and there is no competitor in the conservatory market in Scotland anywhere near close to this sort of insulation and low u-value as this is competing against other suppliers latest conservatory roofs which normally have a u-value of around 2Wm2k with a roof that has 25mm polycarbonate or 1.4Wm2k with 35mm heat reflective polycarbonate as these roof sheet glazing thicknesses are the most popular used in the past 5-8 years with even lower quality product used prior to this giving conservatory owners u-values of 2.3Wm2k its clear to see that 0.53Wm2k is outstanding against all other market products when you consider that a roof on a new built house today will only have a full U-Value of 0.8Wm2k.

With all the latest government changes in relation to energy efficiency the double glazing and conservatory markets have been hit hard with so many forced changes in glazing regulations

We asked Company Director dax duckett what is a U-Value?

"Double glazing can be measured on its energy efficiency whilst comparing it to other windows, by using a calculation system known as the U value (or U factor).

"The U value can be adopted for any kind of home construction and measures how effective that component is at retaining heat. Importantly, the lower the U value, the more proficient the window or glazed area is at saving energy through losing as little heat as possible, in recent years many conservatory owners have called us to say 'our conservatory is far too hot in the summer and far too cold in the winter to be comfortable, is there any way we can insulate our existing conservatory as we love using our conservatory and wish we could use our conservatory 365 days of the year but its impossible' Well Clyde Windows & Construction now have a solution to a problem which is the same all over Scotland for tens of thousands of people.

"People who find that their conservatory is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter often use it for just small spells throughout the year. Missing out on the potential of an all-year-round room that can be used 365 days of the year and if I had paid some of my hard earned money for a conservatory then I would be expecting to use it any time I wanted to rather than when the weather or a comfortable conservatory temperature allows."

The target market for this product is

- families who will use the room every day, all year round

- those specifically seeking the best performing product in a category

- those following a green agenda

- consumers who may also be looking at solid room roofs/tiled extensions but want a product that lets light in

As well as outstanding thermal performance this roof system lowers noise levels from rain etc and still has the light transmission of a glazed roof unlike tiled roof projects which many people are changing their conservatory roofs to unbeknown to them that they are actually changing the classification of the conservatory they had permission from their local council to build and have now made it illegal this only becomes apparent when they try to sell their house and leaves a massive headache for the conservatory owner
