Drivers are reminded that traffic management will be implemented on the M9 Spur southbound carriageway from Sunday 13 November as part of the works for the Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC).
The traffic management, installed by Sisk Roadbridge as part of the works to upgrade M9 Junction 1a at Kirkliston, will consist of the closure of the hard shoulder and one lane of the dual two lane southbound carriageway. A 40 mph speed limit will be in place, enforced by Average Speed Cameras. These traffic management measures are required to allow early works to be undertaken on the installation of gantries over both the northbound and southbound carriageways.
The works may result in occasional delays at peak periods and drivers are advised to allow sufficient time to complete their journeys. To limit potential disruption, drivers are also asked to cooperate with road signing through the traffic management scheme, which will advise the use of both lanes of the M9 Spur until they are asked to “merge-in-turn” where it is reduced to one lane. Drivers are also advised that the layout of these traffic management measures may vary during off peak periods to allow completion of these works.
This traffic management scheme will be operational until the Spring of 2012 until the erection of the gantries over the northern section of the M9 Spur is complete. Thereafter traffic management will be moved to the south, towards Kirkliston.
