Revised plans to replace a council-run care home in Dumfries and Galloway with upgraded special housing have been recommended by the council.
The Dunmuir Park project at Castle Douglas has been amended to address a range of design concerns.
The existing building, which has been a long-standing cause for concern for the Care Commission, provides long-term care and respite for adults with learning disabilities.
An attempt to close the facility was scrapped after outcry from residents' families, who were subsequently invited to work with the department to find a suitable way forward.
This collaborative approach resulted in the revised plans which are being led by the social landlord, Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership.
The current Dunmuir Park home is now set for phased demolition and will be replaced by specialist housing on the same site.
The deferral of the application, which first went before the council's planning committee last month, was because of concern about the design of some of the new properties.
The blueprint has since been revised to address the issues and planning officials are now recommending that the development gets underway as soon as possible.
