Planning consent has been granted for the development of Angus Council's proposed new multi-million pound business park in Arbroath, a 14.2 hectare site to the west of Elliot Industrial Estate.
The business park will consist of around 28 plots for general industrial, manufacturing, storage and distribution, and office use.
Based on employment levels at Arbroath Enterprise Park, it is estimated that over 1000 jobs could be accommodated on a fully occupied site.
The council has a 12-year development plan for the site, with the development of a business park proposed in two phases.
The first phase is to move forward in the next couple of years, while the second round of development will follow in about 10 years, when it is estimated that the initial development would be approaching full occupancy.
Vice convener of the council's Infrastructure Services committee, councillor David Fairweather, welcomed the planning approval said: "This is another step in the process to create a business park on this site. It would be a great boost for Arbroath, offering a supply of business land in the town for the next 20 years; opening up the potential for businesses expansion and new investment in the area."
