A roadshow of drop-in exhibitions about the emerging new Aberdeen Local Development Plan will visit Airyhall and Cove this week.
The Proposed Plan is Aberdeen City Council's firm view on what should be included in the adopted Aberdeen Local Development Plan. There is now an opportunity for people to submit their views on the Proposed Plan.
It shows where up to 21,000 new homes might be built on greenfield sites to create sustainable new communities. The design and layout of these developments will be specified in masterplans drawn up with input from local people. It also identifies almost 200 hectares of land for employment use to support the sustainable economic growth of the city.
The City Council published its Proposed Plan on 24 September and residents have until 5pm on 17 December to submit representations on the content of the document which looks at the city's development needs for the next 20 years.
Proposals in the Airyhall area include a site for 3,000 houses at Countesswells, 20 houses on a site at Craigton Road and a housing development opportunity on the site of Braeside Infant School. Previously allocated sites at Pinewood and Hazledene are retained in the Plan.
A staffed exhibition will also be held at Cove Library on Wednesday, 10 November from 2-7pm. Proposals to the south of the city include the new stadium and sports facilities at Calder Park. There are 1,500 houses proposed at Loirston, 20.5 hectares of employment land is identified at Charlestown and a two hectare additional employment land allocation is proposed at the Aberdeen gateway site. Previously identified housing opportunity sites at Stationfields and on the east side of Cove are also included.
