Work on realigning the on/off ramps at the Tay Road Bridge is ahead of schedule with a new junction coming into operation weeks before it was due.
The new junction, at the foot of the widened off ramp adjacent to Tayside House, will allow drivers to turn right as well as left after a gap was created in the central reservation.
A new permanent ramp will then be constructed that will tie in initially with South Marketgait and eventually with the new southern boulevard, forming part of the central waterfront's new road layout.
Dave Doig, Chair of DD One, said: “It is great to see that work is ahead of schedule with minimum disruption to date. DD One welcomes ongoing dialogue with the project team to ensure feedback and concerns from city centre businesses are taken on board. We hope that work continues on schedule, with minimum disruption, and look forward to the benefits it will bring local residents and people visiting Dundee.”
Contractors Farrans are expected to have this phase of waterfront work complete by Autumn 2011.
The work is part of a £6m contract funded by Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise to remove and replace part of the off ramps at the Tay Road Bridge.
