Final design plans for a £5.5 million council house development in Kilwinning have been unveiled.
Following extensive public consultation, the design team behind the development at Winton Avenue have finalised detailed drawings showing how the 40 new homes will look.
Members of the public had their say during consultation events held earlier this year, and their views helped inform the final development, including the provision of front and rear gardens, individual parking spaces within garden areas, porches, render finishes, a traffic calming scheme and a toddlers play area.
The finalised site, house and elevation layouts were displayed at Mansefield Trinity Church, Kilwinning on Thursday for residents and other members of the public to see.
The Winton Avenue development, is expected to be completed by February 2012 and consists mainly of two bedroom bungalows and houses. A small number of three and four bedroom homes are also included.
This development, at the site of the former St Michael's Academy, is the second phase of a landmark council house building programme which is taking place in North Ayrshire.
The first phase of building is currently being carried out at the site of the former Castlepark Primary School in Irvine at a cost of £3 million, with 23 new homes for rent expected to be completed by December 2010.
These are the first new council houses to be built in North Ayrshire for almost 30 years.
North Ayrshire Council has been successful in securing funding of over £1.6m from the Scottish Government to contribute to the developments in Irvine and Kilwinning.
