A total of 20 manual workers and 17 supervisory and technical staff at Scottish Borders Council (SBC) have attained Scottish National Vocational Qualifications (S/NVQs).
An awards ceremony was held to recognise the hard work and commitment demonstrated by all involved.
Certificates were presented by Councillor Jim Fullarton, Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure, who congratulated the employees present on their achievements and said: "I am delighted to present so many front line staff with these awards. This demonstrates that we have a team of highly skilled workers.
"Health and safety legislation has been an integral part of the training and it is reassuring to know that our staff are fully aware of this. I would also like to say a huge 'thank you' to everyone involved in winter maintenance.
"The public have been full of praise for the roads being kept open and emergency services being able to operate in the Borders."
Bruce Rutherford, Head of Roads and Fleet Management, said: "We are extremely proud of all 37 members of staff. They have worked very hard to attain these qualifications and I am delighted to be involved in celebrating their success. We have 20 candidates who attained level two, and 17 who attained either level three or four.
"In addition to performing their day-to-day activities, this has taken time, energy, and considerable commitment from each person."
Graham Caird, Training Centre Co-ordinator, added: "This demonstrates the continued commitment of SBC Contracts to developing a skilled and competent workforce and I am delighted to see the efforts of individuals recognised at this presentation."
