One of Stirling’s busiest roundabouts is getting a £65,000 make over.
Stirling Council’s Roads Maintenance Service is carrying out essential work to the Borestone Roundabout, which joins the A9, A872 and the B8051at St.Ninans, during May and June.
Stirling Council Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Environment Councillor Jim Thomson said: "Borestone Roundabout takes a heavy pounding and is in need of repair. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but I'm sure motorists will appreciate the need to carry out these essential repairs.”
The first phase of the work includes repairs to kerbs, pedestrian barriers and blocked gullies. The work will be carried out between 9am and 4pm. A new emergency crossover will also be constructed on Burghmuir Road.
The second and more disruptive phase will be the resurfacing of the roundabout and this will be carried out over four consecutive Sundays starting on Sunday May 16.
During this work there will be road closures from 7.30am to 12 midnight each Sunday until June 6. The road closures include the A9 Burghmuir Road from Linden Avenue roundabout to Borestone roundabout and the A9 from the junction of Broom Road on the Bannockburn Road to Borestone roundabout. Major diversions will be in place and traffic lights will also be in operation on the Glasgow Road. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and follow the diversions as delays are expected.
Stirling Council has consulted emergency services, local community councils, bus companies, the taxi association and statutory consultees on the planned road works.
