Arbroath firm AD Contracting (Scotland) Ltd have been given the go-ahead for the creation of a health and wellbeing centre at Jubilee Court sheltered housing complex, Letham.
The work is to refurbish and adapt the existing two-storey warden’s house and build a single storey extension. This will provide a clinical room, two consulting rooms, a waiting area, wheelchair accessible accommodation and a toilet on the ground floor, as well as office and staff accommodation on the first floor. A car park and access road with footpath will also be constructed.
Total cost of the works will be £313,104 and the capital cost will be fully funded by NHS Tayside, who will then lease the building from the council for 40 years.
Angus Council Neighbourhood Services committee agreed to accept a tender last Thursday.
Neighbourhood Services convener, councillor Jim Millar welcomed the move, he said: "This new centre will prove of great benefit to the people of Letham and the surrounding rural area. We hope that work on the project will begin next month, and be completed in November this year."
