Planning Aid for Scotland (PAS) has released a series of figures showing the growth in demand for its planning advice and information services across Scotland.
A total of 93 people contacted the advice service in 2008/09. For 2009/10 there were 666. This represents a 12% increase. They have received enquiries from every one of the 34 planning authority areas in Scotland.
The new figures include significant increases in people calling the free planning advice line, the number of events requested by communities, website traffic and also in the team of specialist volunteers.
Petra Biberbach, Chief Executive of Planning Aid for Scotland, said: "These new figures are clear evidence of the value people place on the independent and impartial planning advice offered by PAS. They also demonstrate how planning needs to remain at the top of the political agenda to help deliver sustainable economic growth.
"With a rise in calls to our helpline, an unprecedented number of expert volunteers and a doubling of training events, Planning Aid for Scotland is recognised as the leading voice in helping people engage with the planning."
