A major project celebrating 150 years since the birth of playwright JM Barrie may come a step nearer next week.
Details of the plans for Kirriemuir Hill will be discussed by Angus Council's Neighbourhood Services committee on 8 October.
The proposed development will include: a new play area with a Peter Pan/Neverland motif; a heritage and nature trail; a lookout mound; an outdoor classroom within a woodland area; a wildflower meadow; new picnic tables; improvement works to JM Barrie's grave and a remodelled BMX track.
The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion during 2010.
Councillor Jim Millar, convener of Neighbourhood Services, said: "This is a very exciting project, not only for the people of Kirriemuir but for Angus as a whole.
"We want to play our part in celebrating the 150th anniversary of JM Barrie, who spent his early youth in Kirriemuir and brought enjoyment to millions of people through his writing.
"We hope that once completed, the Kirriemuir Hill development will draw in many visitors to the area and allow them to enjoy the facilities.
"I hope that members of the committee will agree to the proposals I am putting forward."
