Seven rising stars in Scotland's green energy sector were recognised for their outstanding contributions at the Young Professional Green Energy Awards 2025.
The annual event, organised by Scottish Renewables, highlights the pioneering individuals poised to reshape the nation's clean power future.
Held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow, the awards ceremony brought together 300 renewable energy professionals to celebrate the achievements of the next generation. This year's winners were selected from a strong shortlist of 32 nominees.
Among those honoured was Obey Suleyman, whose innovative research on wind turbine components is significantly advancing the sustainability of Scotland's renewables sector. Ellen Kane of ScottishPower Renewables was also recognised for her work delivering STEM workshops in local schools and her active engagement with local communities.
A standout achiever was Megan Martin from Tony Gee and Partners LLP, who received two awards for her exceptional work supporting the design of foundations for wind turbines and associated wind farm structures.
These three individuals, along with four other deserving recipients, were lauded for their dedication and impact on the industry.
Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, the trade body behind the awards, commented on the exceptional talent showcased: "Every year these awards remind me of the remarkable clean energy talent coming through in Scotland and it is always an absolute joy to see us come together as an industry to celebrate the dedication, innovation and leadership shown by the next generation of renewable energy professionals."
She added: "The calibre of those shortlisted for the Young Professional Green Energy Awards continues to impress and this evening's nominees have been no exception. The skill, professionalism, and commitment on display are a testament not only to the individuals recognised, but also to the strength and promise of our industry's future."
Looking ahead, Mack stated: "As we look to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, it is clear that the passion and determination of the young professionals in our industry will help shape the future of clean power in this country and beyond. It has been a privilege to see first-hand such outstanding talent on display and I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all those shortlisted and, of course, to those who have taken home an award tonight."
The winners of this year's Young Professionals Green Energy Awards will now proceed to compete for the prestigious Young and Inspiring Award at The Scottish Green Energy Awards, scheduled to be held in Edinburgh on December 4, 2025.
