A piece of land which has become an eyesore in Sauchie is to be sold for development.

The site at Swinburne Drive was abandoned in the 1990s by a housing developer who left the area derelict and unsightly.

Despite attempts at enforcement by the Clackmannanshire Council, the developer, who had gone bankrupt, failed to comply with the terms of the original planning consent.


The Council agreed to accept ownership of the land and following a marketing exercise has received two offers for the site.

Councillors agreed at today's meeting to sell the site to the highest bidder.

Outline planning permission for two detached, four-bedroom houses has been granted for the land.

Councillor Eddie Carrick, Sustainability Portfolio Holder, said: "This area has been a cause for concern to local residents for some time after the housing developer became insolvent. The Council took responsibility for the site and by marketing it, we have now got a win win situation."
