A £1 million grant programme has been launched to help owners return vacant listed buildings across Glasgow to productive use.
The Heritage Building Viability Grant Scheme, funded by Glasgow City Council and administered by Glasgow City Heritage Trust, is designed to bring floorspace in some of the city's most significant historic properties back into action, creating places for businesses, supporting jobs and safeguarding Glasgow's built heritage.
Targeting historic buildings, the programme will support capital works to secure a sustainable future for these spaces. Grants of between £15,000 and £350,000 are now open for applications from owners of listed buildings in Glasgow.
Eligible costs include services, fire safety measures, internal finishes, professional fees and other adaptations required to enable reuse.
The £1m allocation was agreed as part of the council’s 2026/27 budget in February 2026, with the City Administration Committee approving Glasgow City Heritage Trust to administer the scheme in March 2026.
