An £8 million scheme is under way to enhance accessibility for passengers at Dalwhinnie and improve performance on the Highland Main Line.
The project will install a new crossover so trains can switch between tracks, enabling northbound services to use Platform 1 when step-free access is required.
The new infrastructure will also strengthen reliability and resilience and provide greater flexibility for freight, supporting efficient movement of goods across Scotland’s railway.
To deliver the work safely, the line at Dalwhinnie will be closed from Friday 30 October to Monday 2 November, and again from Friday 6 November to Monday 9 November.
Across these weekends, engineers will install and commission the upgrades, renewing around 400 yards of track and replacing ageing signalling with new colour light signals.
The improvements will allow higher speeds through the area, helping to provide a more dependable service on the route.
Night and weekend activity will continue until the end of the year as old equipment is removed from the site.
